IHG has announced the launch of its 19th brand, Garner, a mid-scale hotel brand aimed at guests who want high-quality accommodation at a reasonable price.
Garner will be part of IHG's Essentials Collection, which includes other mid-scale hotels such as Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Avid.
While the mid-scale hotel market may seem crowded, IHG has a few unique features.
Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express are considered "upper mid-scale" hotels, while Avid and Garner are mid-scale. Avid hotels are always new builds, while Garner will be developed by renovating existing hotels and will feature customized designs based on location.
IHG expects to have 500 Garner hotels in the US alone within the next 10 years, with that number doubling within 20 years. While room rates will vary by location and time, Garner hotels are positioned to be around $100 per night.
You can book a Garner hotel on the IHG official website. On the IHG homepage, select the "Garner" option in the "Brand" dropdown menu, then enter your destination and check-in date to find available hotels and make a reservation. Here is the link to the IHG official website: https://www.ihg.com/
This year, Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, and IHG have all made moves in the economy hotel space. Hilton launched Spark, a high-end economy brand, earlier this year, which is also expected to grow quickly through conversions. A few months later, Hilton announced the launch of its extended-stay brand, Project H3.
Hyatt's mid-scale brand, Hyatt Studios, announced this week that it will open its first locations in Mobile, Alabama and Marysville, California, giving the Chicago-based hotel giant much-needed presence in the mid-scale hotel market.
Marriott has also been active in the mid-scale hotel space, acquiring Mexico's City Express and launching its StudioRes extended-stay brand.
