Mariott BreakAway is a perk offered by Marriott International to its collaborative partners, allowing their employees to earn points for personal travel and redeem them for free nights at Marriott hotels worldwide.
With over 200 partner companies across various industries, including technology, finance, consulting, and healthcare, the list of participating employers is extensive and impressive. Some well-known names include Accenture, Deloitte, PwC, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, IBM, Intel, Amazon, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Dell, HP, Sony, Siemens, and more.
The program works by allowing employees to register and book their personal travel through the Marriott website or mobile app. For every dollar spent on qualifying stays, employees earn one point, which can be redeemed for a free night at any participating Marriott hotel. What makes this program stand out is its flexibility – there are no minimums or blackout dates, so employees can use their points whenever they want, subject to availability.
Mariott BreakAway specific terms and conditions:
- Valid for Thursday to Sunday stays
- Must include Friday or Saturday night
- Discount code is XML
- Maximum discount of 30%
- Can earn Marriott points and room nights normally
- Note: 30% discount is the best case scenario; actual discounts will depend on the hotel and some hotels may not have stay restrictions.
So the discounts offered by hotels can range from 10% to 30%, but they're not always that high. It looks like BreakAway prices tend to be lower than other prices, especially when there is no prepaid rate available.
This is good news for our colleagues who work in these companies! Just a friendly reminder: please don't pretend to be someone you're not and try to get the corporate rate without proper qualifications. When checking in, you will need to verify your identity.

Marriott BreakAway's exclusive privilege for corporate employees is not the only one. There are also other benefits, such as direct ascension to platinum membership, which can reach up to a white gold card!
However, this year, almost all of these "white gold express" activities have been discontinued, and I don't know why.
Anyway, out of boredom, I wrote a few lines of Python code to run through over 200 companies on the BreakAway website and drew the following conclusion:

After registering, you can directly obtain platinum card qualifications, effective for three months. During this period, staying at any Marriott hotel for 15 nights can upgrade your status until March 2024. Both new and old users can participate.
The "Silver Card Express" currently supports six companies:
- AbbVie
- Deloitte
- KPMG
- Pfizer
- MNP
- Stantec
Upon registration, you can directly obtain silver card qualifications, effective until March 2024. Only new users are eligible. A valid corporate email address must be verified.
